General Information

Where is the Library located on Campus?
            In Building 300 next to Financial Aid.

What are the Library hours? 

  •  Monday – Thursday   8:00 am – 10:30 pm

  • Friday                         8:00 am  -   4:00 pm

  • Saturday                     9:00 am -    1:00 pm

  • Sundays                      Closed

Does the Library have a lost and found area?
            Yes. Please ask a library staff member and they will direct you to the lost and found. Items may not be held for longer than one week.

 

Borrowing (Checking out) Materials

Who can borrow books from the Library?

Bauder  students, faculty, and staff who present their current validated College photo ID. Borrowing privileges may not be transferred to another borrower.

What can I do if the book I need is checked out?

If a desired item is checked out to another user, a recall can be initiated at the Circulation Desk. The person in possession of the item that is recalled will be guaranteed a loan period of 28 days (or less depending on its item type). Items needed for Reserves may be recalled at any time. When the recalled item is returned, the requester will be notified. Recalled items will be held at the Circulation Desk for seven days. Materials are not recalled for Guest Borrowers.

How do I renew material I have checked out?

Most items can be renewed twice provided no other user has requested it. Renewals may be made by presenting the items at the Circulation Desk. Renewals will not be granted if:

1.    the title has been recalled.

2.    the renewal limit has been exceeded; or

3.    there is a block on the borrower's record.

What are the fine rates for overdue materials?

There are no fines; however, borrowers who do not return within 6 weeks will have their Financial Aid and transcripts frozen.

How long can I check out materials?

Books may be checked out for 3 weeks with two renewals.

 

Library Computers

Does the Library have computers that can be used for research?

Yes, the Library has several research computers available in the Reference Area on the main floor of the Library.

What types of information can I get on the computers?

The computers include numerous research databases that can be used to search for information in books, government documents, periodicals (magazine, newspaper and scholarly journal), and a variety of other sources. The computers also include direct links to several internet search engines.

Do I have to sign up to use a computer?

No, you do not have to sign up to use the Library computers.

Can I print from the Library computers?

Yes, you can print from the Library computers.

Is there a computer lab in the Library?

No, the library does not have a computer lab, but there are several computer labs on campus.

Does the Library have computers with word processing capabilities for me to type my term paper?

Yes, the Library computers are set up for research and do contain word processing programs. Various computer labs on campus also have word processing available.

 

Copy Machines

Does the Library have copiers avialable?

Yes, the Library has a copier available for printing from paper originals.

 

Finding Research Materials

How do I find books owned by Bauder College Library?

To find books and other materials owned by the Library, you should search the online catalog.

How can I find periodical (magazine, newspaper, and scholarly journal) articles?

You can access periodical databases by clicking on the GALILEO Databases link from the Bauder College Library homepage.

Does the Library offer any tutorials about research?

Yes, on Fridays, from 9 – 11 am instruction is available.

 

GALILEO

What is GALILEO?

GALILEO is a virtual library developed through an initiative of the University System of Georgia. GALILEO stands for Georgia Library Learning Online. Through GALILEO, you have access to multiple information sources. For more information about GALILEO, click here.

Can I access GALILEO from a remote site (off-campus, home, etc.)?

Yes, you can. Some of the databases are available to the public, but some databases require a password.

How can I get the GALILEO password?

The password is posted at the information desk and changes each quarter.  You may also call the Library and ask for the password.

 

Library Instruction Sessions

What are Library Instruction Sessions?

Every Friday between 9 and 11 am, a library staff member is available to provide on-on-one instruction in the use of the Library, Research methods for  term papers and for GALILEO.

How do I register for a session?

You may contact the Library at 404-443-1807 to set an appointment.
